Ramadan is just a few days away. It is a blessed month in which we see those who struggle to keep up with obligatory prayers are consistent in praying long taraweeh, those who cannot wake up for Fajr rise for tahajjud, those who barely touch the Quran end up completing it. It is none but from the mercy of Allah.
Allah subhanallahu tala says:
"The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion." (2:185)
Indeed, Ramadan is a month of the Quran. According to a 2015 UK newspaper (Metro) article, Quran is the most popular book in the world; over 3 billion copies have been published worldwide. It is also the most memorized book in the world. If all the religious texts in the world were to be destroyed, Quran would be the only one which could be restored to the very dot through millions of Huffaz around the world.
Quran is not something to keep covered and put away on the bookshelf or read when someone passes away. It is to be studied and practiced upon. Every equipment we buy comes with a manual. Quran is the manual for this complex human being.
Imam Arafat Al Ashi stated, "If you love the Quran, you are lucky. If you cry while reading the Quran, you are luckier. And if you live by the Quran, you are the luckiest."
The body of a human being is made from the elements of the soil while, the soul (Ruh), comes from the heavens. Therefore, the body is nourished by the food that comes from the soil. But, the soul is nourished by that which comes from the heavens. Quran, which comes from the heaven, is the cure for the heart.
If you want to talk to Allah, make wudhu and pray two rakath of salat. And if you want Allah to talk to you, make wudhu and read the Quran.
